with astronomer, Barbara Moont

Cassini is fast approaching the final phase of its mission to explore Saturn and its complex system of rings and moons. Twenty years ago this mission set out to look in detail at the furthest planet  in the ancient world.  The pictures that have been received are incredible and there has even been some indication that one of its moons may have life. Come and hear about the amazing journey and see the wonderful images.

Barbara Moont studied mechanical engineering at Imperial College London and took her Masters Degree at MIT in Boston USA. In the summer of 1969, she was lucky enough to be working on the Apollo project at the time of the first moon landings.  At the age of 54, Barbara returned to university to study Astronomy. She was the only grandma on the course! Barbara now gives popular courses in Astronomy raising funds for ESRA and World Jewish Relief, ranging from a basic introduction to spectroscopy.
