Project of the Month

These programs allow talented underprivileged teenagers to fulfill their potential by providing them with a challenging program of enrichment and leadership training at the Ruppin Institute of Marine Science. Talented 7th graders from all backgrounds of Israeli society in the lower socio-economic levels are chosen - programs run for 2 years.

Guided tour to the South with Avraham Kalman

A uniquely designed tour for ESRA Modiin members only! - first come, first served!

  •  Aleh Negev for challenged children and adults. Aleh Negev is a rehabilitation village for disabled children and adults in southern Israel near Ofakim. Thevillage provides residential, educational, medical and employment services, and opportunitiesfor social interaction. We will meet with some of the residents, tour the site and have an opportunity to purchase their handmade crafts.
  •  Agricultural Research Station - The center is a world leader in saline or brackish water irrigation research. Israeli    scientists have effectively cultivated a variety of traditional fruits and vegetables, established fish farms and beef cattle herds, raised exotic birds, and grown fodder crops on previously unproductive land. The tour includes a movie, viewpoint, visiting hothouses, and tasting some of the crops.
  •  Ashalim Solar-Thermal Power Station -The largest solar powered station in Israel; where three solar power stations will ‎generate 2-2.5% of Israel’s electricity consumption.  Learn also about the ‎environmental challenges surrounding this massive project, as well as see the creative ‎solutions that were found.‎
    ‎ *This part of the tour is by bus only. We will not exit from the bus into the power station field.‎
    ‎* Each participant must bring their passports or IDs with them.‎
  •  Park Golda - A man-made lake forms the heart of this park in Israel's Negev Desert creating a ‎beautiful oasis. The impressive recreation site has hiking trails, green lawns, picnic ‎areas and a scenic lookout‏.‏
  •  Kibbutz Revivim Reconstruction of original 1943 settlement - Kibbutz Revivim was one of three settlements founded overnight in the Negev ‎desert in 1943. An underground hospital served residents in the area. The Kibbutz is ‎known as the home of the late Golda Meir and by 2016, had a population of 1,047. ‎Reconstruction of the original tower-and-stockade settlement took place in the early ‎‎80’s with authentic items displayed. The tour includes a short movie.‎
