ESRA Computer Centers provide free access to computers and innovative instruction in computer skills for underprivileged children, youth and adults helping to close the cultural and educational gap.

    ESRA's ETP (English Tutoring Program) is one of the most important and far reaching of the projects in ESRA. Israeli kids are hungry to learn the English language but with 30-40 children in a class, it is almost impossible for any teacher to give a student the one-on-one help that is so badly needed. This is where ESRA comes in.

    ESRA recently held its annual Scholarship Award evening for students involved in its Students Build a Community project. Carefully chosen students are given the opportunity of mentoring children from deprived backgrounds in exchange for living rent-free in the areas (and apartment blocks) where these youngsters reside.

    ESRA’s annual major fundraiser took place on January 3rd to a packed hall at the Performing Arts Centre in Herzliya. It was an evening ‎of outstanding entertainment which also raised money to support our projects  creating a better ‎tomorrow for those youngsters who need our help.‎

    Our new ESRA Drop In Centre in Netanya will open its doors for the first time on Wednesday 6th January 2016 at 9.30 am.  We look forward to welcoming many new and old faces and hope it will be well supported and serve a useful purpose in the Netanya English speaking community.

    A wonderful Evening of Appreciation was arranged for the knitters of ESRA Rishon Branch together with those of the 'Ad 120' Retirement home. This is an ongoing and joint project ‎of the two organizations. Every year the ‎‎22 knitters donate around 300 sweaters to needy children in the area.  ‎

    Our tour of Magdala with expert guide Nurit Greenberg, began in glorious winter sunshine as we drove through the ancient ‎olive trees in Emek Beit Hakerem, some of them around 1,000 years ‎old.

    Mimi Semuha of ESRA Yokneam organised a Chanukah get-together for local members on Thursday evening, the 5th candle of Hannukah. Mimi writes "Since we are a relatively young group, a lot of families brought their children so it was a fun party!

    Last Tuesday evening 1 December, tension mounted as the clock struck 7:30 and 400 ESRA quiz afficionados all over Israel sharpened their wits in preparation for ESRA's 2nd National Quiz. This year 20 teams took part, 7 up from last year, ably coordinated by Glenis Bertfield and technically aided by David Shulman.

    The official opening of the Students Build a Community Project in Hefzibah took place ‎during the first week of November at the local Community Center.‎ The 48 children participating in the project attended, together with their parents, ‎representatives of the schools and the community centers, the students and ESRA ‎volunteers.‎

    The 'Students Build a Community' Project in Neot Shaked started the year ‎with an “Around The World” Happening organized by the new students ‎participating in the project. Seven different ‎‎“stations” represented a different country with different activities representing each culture.
