Project of the Month

These programs allow talented underprivileged teenagers to fulfill their potential by providing them with a challenging program of enrichment and leadership training at the Ruppin Institute of Marine Science. Talented 7th graders from all backgrounds of Israeli society in the lower socio-economic levels are chosen - programs run for 2 years.

Five Towns including Caesarea, Zichron Ya'akov, Pardes Hanna-Karkur, Hadera, Binyamina, Or Akiva,

The FIVE TOWNS BRANCH started life in 2004 as the ESRA Caesarea Branch.  It soon attracted English speakers from Zichron Ya'akov, Binyamina, Hadera, Pardes Hanna-Karkur and Or Akiva, plus the moshavim and kibbutzim in the surrounding area, hence the change of name.

Our regular Brunch Club has become very popular.  A purely social event, we meet at the charming and beautifully situated cafes and restaurants in the area of which, it is commonly agreed, there is no shortage.

Caesarea and Zichron Ya'akov are tourist hot-spots, with a wide choice of places to visit and things to do.  We have had wine-tastings (Carmel, Tishbi and Binyamina) and held an Arts & Craft Fair in a private home.  We arranged a Palm Court tea at the Dan Caesarea Hotel and Jazz with Dinner in a beautiful Caesarea private garden. Museums we have visited include Dor Nachsholim, The Khan and The Feinberg House in Hadera and the Ralli Art Collection in Caesarea. We organise regular talks and day trips.

ESRA Five Towns has begun a pilot programme to encourage tutoring English in schools in partnership with PUSH. There is an urgent need for native English speakers to help the kids, no teaching experience necessary, and volunteers are only required for two or three hours each week. For further information call Tzvika Harpak on 052-399-7000.

Branch members can also volunteer at the magnificent gardens at Ramat Hanadiv, in an imaginative and rewarding scheme where the volunteers are looked after very well, with many perks, in an English speaking group.  Contact Tamat at

In September 2017 we will be launching our Travelling Bookshop to be held at private homes throughout the region. For further information, or offers to host, please call Marion Fredman on 04-639-8056.
