Five Towns branch presents "I'm a Civil War", an evening based on the documentary of the life of the late Haim Gouri  - directed and presented by Zichron film-maker Omri Lior

Haim GouriThe poet, soldier, journalist and film producer, winner of the Israel Prize, Haim Gouri, was born in Tel Aviv in 1923. The film summarizes his 93 years, describing historical stepping stones of Israeli poetry and especially his own, in parallel with the process of the creation of the new Israeli State.

The film follows chronologically various periods in Haim Gouri's life, through significant poetry encounters which influenced his writing. His life was lived in a turmoil of social and political contradictions, and Haim Gouri sums it up as "I am a civil war".

Omri Lior, is an Israeli documentary filmmaker, born in Haifa Israel in 1952. Studied Telecommunications and Film at SDSU in California. After graduation, Omri returned to Israel and for the next 25 years worked as a producer/director – making various films and TV programs.

In 2001 Omri studied Hebrew literature at Ben Gurion University of the Negev and it was there that his project "Words with a View" had its first seeds and later on… its first fruit.

Omri is continuing making films about poets and writers, gives lectures and screen them in various places in Israel and around the world
