‘Opera Through the Looking Glass’

Lloyd started his career participating in a prestigious singing competition in Perth, Western Australia and advancing to the finals held at a public concert hosted by the Western Australian Symphony Orchestra.

Following a two-year period training in Melbourne with Henry Portnoj, one of Australia’s most respected singing teachers, he returned to his home town in Perth, together with his family, taking up a position as principal tenor in the newly formed West Australian Opera, performing several major roles.

In 1999 he moved to Israel and started teaching, opening a teaching studio for students of opera and music theatre in 2004.

“Being an experienced opera singer, I believed I had a lot to offer students. I have always treated teaching as an important element of my singing career – passing on my knowledge and expertise to singers of the future.”
