On Tu b'shvat, an illustrated talk on Reb Zeev Yavetz (1847 - 1924) by his great, great granddaughter, Jane Krivine, aided by source material from family archives.
In 1888 Yavetz was appointed headmaster of the first school in Zichron Ya'akov and the following year, he took his class of schoolchildren to plant a tree to honour Tu b'shvat. Soon adopted by the Teachers' Union and the Jewish National Fund, tree planting is now a popular tradition.
