Economic Opportunities Arising from Normalization of Israel-UAE Relations

with Prof. Leonardo Leiderman

 

 

Leonardo Leiderman is the Jack & Lisa Yael Professor of Comparative Economics at the Eitan Berglas School of Economics, Tel Aviv University.

 

Prof. Leo Leiderman, lecturer at the School of Economics, Tel Aviv University, is economic advisor to Bank Hapoalim Group, in addition to his other advisory and research positions.
Prof. Leiderman made Aliya from his native Argentina in 1969, and completed BA studies in Economics and Sociology at Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He studied toward his MA and PhD at University of Chicago, receiving his doctorate in 1978 under the supervision of Nobel Prize winner, Prof. Robert Lucas. He joined the faculty of Tel Aviv University (TAU) upon his return to Israel in 1979.
His prior academic positions include Head of TAU's School of Economics and Director of the Pinchas Sapir Center for Development at TAU.
Prof. Leo Leiderman has been guest lecturer at numerous international conventions, conferences and seminars hosted by University of Chicago, Boston University, the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, and the Inter-American Development Bank, among others.
He has published over 70 articles in professional journals, and wrote/edited 7 books on economics. He is recognized worldwide as a leading expert in such matters as central banking policies in emerging economies, exchange rate policies, international movements of capital, inflation policy and macro-economics, and global investment strategies. He receives many invitations from various countries' central banks, to present his research and recommendations regarding exchange rates and interest policies.
In light of all the above, Prof. Leo Leiderman is a well-known figure, frequently featured in the media both in Israel and throughout the world.
