Speaker Joel Meentzen made Aliyah from Germany in 2008. In Israel, he built a career in high-tech, focusing primarily on automotive technology. He worked at companies such as Mobileye, Adasky, and various startups.
In 2018, Joel took out a mortgage to purchase a house in northern Israel. Without using a consultant, he went directly to a bank, got approval, and moved into his new home—then largely ignored his mortgage payments. Three years later, when he finally reviewed his mortgage report, he was shocked to find that the principal had barely decreased! Determined to understand why, and true to his Yekke roots, he didn’t settle for reading about it online. Instead, he enrolled in a finance academy course, studying mortgages alongside his high-tech career—and became his own first client!
It wasn’t long before he started helping others. What began as a side business soon grew, and by the end of 2023, Joel decided to leave the high-tech industry to focus entirely on mortgage consulting. His mission? To help people unfamiliar with the Israeli mortgage system avoid costly mistakes!
