This December, we’ll explore one of the Jezreel Valley’s most rewarding routes - the Megiddo Trail Loop, a beautiful blend of rolling hills, woodland paths, and flowing water. We begin at Moshav Midrach Oz, heading into gentle green slopes that open into wide forest vistas overlooking Kibbutz Megiddo.
Our path then descends into the serene corridor of Nahal HaShofet, one of the region’s natural gems. December’s early rains often bring the stream to life, creating a charming stretch of shaded walkways, reeds, small caves, wooden bridges, and photogenic splash pools - an ideal spot for nature-watching.
From the stream, we curve around Tel Megiddo, passing close enough to appreciate the dramatic silhouette of this UNESCO-recognized archaeological mound that once dominated the ancient trade routes of the valley. Surrounded by lush woodland and lively birdlife, the trail is both peaceful and full of character.
Following the clear purple KKL-JNF markers, we complete our scenic loop back to Moshav Midrach Oz. A beautiful hike that delivers continuous variety and winter-season beauty.
