Not Without My Children is the story of how Ingrid Barzel succeeded in rescuing an American citizen woman and her five children from the captivity of her Gazan husband. This occurred during the period Gaza was under the Palestinian Authority. Ingrid traveled to Gaza regularly in order to take care of American citizens residing there who were unable to enter Israel.
This story is one of the many cases Ingrid dealt with during her career at the U.S. Embassy.
Ingrid was born in South Africa and immigrated to Israel in November 1973. She commenced working at the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv in 1977 and retired in 2006. She moved to the Negev four years ago to be closer to her children.
Time permitting Ingrid will be happy to share some of her experiences in working with former U.S. Presidents, Ambassadors, etc.
