English garden at Neve Zeev

The Neve Zeev Community Center’s garden has become an English-speaking learning environment for children from local elementary schools.  Beer Sheva

Rationale

Schoolchildren from the geo-social periphery are not generally exposed to after-school enrichment activities.  This project aims at strengthening children’s English speaking skills, providing them with an enriching after-school activity, and enhancing their knowledge of English while they work in the garden, tending flowers and vegetables, together with native English speakers. The experience of working together in a group also helps improve social skills and builds their confidence to chat in English with the volunteers.
