The youth in peripheral developing towns often do not receive the same training and education as their more privileged peers and are in danger of being "left behind ". This project trains participants in the art of debate in English, developing both leadership skills and self-confidence
Objectives
Teach English debating skills, rhetorical skills, and thereby strengthen confidence in personal ability to communicate and discuss ideas
Results
25 7th - 10th-grade students from Sderot participated in the 2022-2023 project.
- 69% of the children are confident to speak in front of an audience
- 63% feel they can change their minds, whereas 75% are open to hearing other opinions
- 56% feel that the activity prepares them for external debates
- 88% feel confident to express an opinion in a conversation
