ESRA Modiin

A fascinating trip to Beer Sheva which will include:
• A visit to Nevatim: Nevatim is an agricultural settlement near the city of Beer Sheva which was settled in 1954 by Jews from Cochin, India. It boasts a Cochin Heritage Center consisting of a compact and amazing museum and a stunning synagogue. We will hear their stories, view a short film about the Cochin Jews and visit the synagogue.
• The Struma Museum: The Struma was a Romanian Jewish refugee ship in 1942. Loaded with 778 men, women, and children they set out to escape via the Black Sea. Beer Sheva is the home of a large Romanian community who have built a memorial to this sad chapter. This museum tells their moving story in film and with historical items.
• Tnuot Or, the Gateway to the Negev: The Negev Visitors Center “museum” exhibits the Negev’s impressive past, present opportunities, communities, and the region’s exciting future as well. The Visitors Center not only connects all people and all areas of life, but also demonstrates the vital importance of the Negev region to the entire State of Israel. The Visitor’s Center is an exciting hands-on attraction with innovative technological displays, guided experiential and interactive activities, exciting data boards, and a 270-degree theater.
