We will start our tour at 10.00 with a visit to the Eim HaBanim Synagogue 12, HaPalmach Street, Tirat HaCarmel. This fascinating shul was originally a church and then a mosque before becoming a synagogue in 1948. The Gabbai (Chaim Gabbai) will explain the history of this wonderful building. The tour at this synagogue will last about 1 hour.
NOTE: There is no entry fee but a discretionary donation of NIS 10-20 per person is requested.
We will then make our way to Beit Tanhum at 4, Calanyot Street, Tirat HaCarmel (12 minutes’ walk or 4 minutes’ drive). This is the Central Synagogue for Caucasian immigrants and was selected by Ynet readers as Israel’s most beautiful synagogue. Rabbi Yehuda Yakobov will explain the history of the synagogue, after which we will visit the winery located in the grounds and will have a wine tasting tour. Special refreshments will be served. The tour will end at approximately 12.30.
